ARTISTS STATEMENT

After a few years of working only on my emotional responses whilst i paint, it is recently that i have started to look at what has triggered the subconcious images that evolved.

I believe it comes down to the meditative quality of the land and seascapes around us.
Being brought up in both Somerset and Dorset i have very strong memories of places visited whilst a child. I have been revisiting these, to record afresh.

This is what has inspired my recent works. Trips to Osmington, where i spent a lot of time, and Corfe, Wareham, Corscombe, Weymouth and Swanage, to name but a few of the many wonderful places this part of the world has to offer.

With the wonderful variety of colour, in everything you happen apon. like the flowers around the Blue Pool and the boats in Weymouth harbour. You cant help but have these urges to paint.

It is a fantastic and nostalgic journey, which i hope may trigger some memories of your own childhood to resurface.

AS A PREDOMINATELY LANDSCAPE PAINTER, IT IS WITH EVER INCREASING ENTHUSIASM I AM LOOKING TOWARDS THE CONTEMPORARY LANDSCAPE. THE CORROSION OF MAN MADE PRODUCTS THAT LITTER OUR ENVIRONMENT. THE SIMILARITIES BETWEEN THE STRATA AND ROCK FORMATIONS AND THE DECAY OF METALS AND MACHINERY ARE MAKING UP A NEW VISTA.
